Music and WebsitesAdding music to your website is easy and quick. A great little tutorial on how to add sound to a webpage can be found here. There is a good explanation and a few alternatives which will allow you to add sound to pretty much any website. Sound files can get large pretty quick and even with all the high speed connectivity these days preloading a 3 or 4 megabyte sound file is enough to make anyone leave your site in a hurry. Sound loops are a great way to get some cool music into your site with relatively tiny files. Free music loops which can be embedded into your web page as described in the tutorial above can jazz up any site. Here is a list of a number of website that offer free or shareware music loops from a variety of categories: Flashkit.com: A great website with thousands of music files in many categories of music like, pop rock, rap, techno and on and on. Make sure to read the guidelines and select the type of file that is right for use on your webpage. Royaltyfreemusic.com has a number of free ones for download as well. They are located here and you can play samples before you download which will save you some time. Partnersinrhyme.com has a good selection of music as well. They are free for use in commercial and non commercial projects, websites, etc. You are not allowed to resell or post for download like they do on their site. This is very reasonable request. They are in WAV format and so you may want to convert to MP3 format first as the file size will be a lot smaller. You can use Audacity free audio editor to convert Wav to MP3.
