Dogpile is a very popular search engine and it’s popularity is growing. It provides results that none of the other search engines do and it is easy to use and uncluttered. So how do you add your website to Dogpile and get into this amazing search engine? It’s easy… you don’t! Dogpile is what’s called a meta-search. It does not actually do the same thing as most of the other search engine, collecting data, indexing web pages, etc, etc. Dogpile basically searches search engines and gives you the results of many other search engines all in one nice and neatly organized results page.

In other words you get your website into Dogpile by getting your website into all the search engines that it searches. Google, ASK.com, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Live Search are all polled by Dogpile so in order to be found in a search done using Dogpile your website must be indexed in at least one of these other search engines, the more the better. If you are in the number one spot for a certain keyword phrase in Google, Yahoo, Live Search and Ask, then chances are, but not certainly, you will appear as number one in Dogpile for that same phrase.

So how do you get your website into Google, Live Search, Yahoo and Ask? This answer is a little more tricky. These four major search engines are always scouring the Web for new content and web pages. The trick is to get them to notice yours. This is best done by getting inbound links. When a website is already indexed by one of the major search engines and it links to your website, the next time say Google comes back to check out what’s new it will discover the link to your website and follow it and now include your website and web pages into its index. Submitting directing to the major search engines can be somewhat of a waste of time.
