Wordpress: A Great Easy Way To Setup Your First Blog Website

So you decided you want to let the world know about your thoughts and visions and the first thing you ask is, “how do I setup a blog website?” The answer is simple... Wordpress. Wordpress has been around for many years and is definitely one of the most popular blogging platforms out there. It is available in two flavors, hosted at Wordpress.com or hosted on your own account somewhere. We are going to talk about the hosted version at www.wordpress.com. You don't really need to know anything technical to get started, or for that matter to keep going either. There are millions of happy bloggers out there who know nothing about the technical side of things.

Believe it or not you can set up a blog site in about 15 minutes or less. Here is quick start set of steps for the non-technical minded to getting a blog up and running.

1.      Open your browser and go to: www.wordpress.com.

2.      Click on the SIGN UP NOW link at the top

3.      Now fill out the form which is very simple and easy (you will need an email address)

4.      On the next page you can adjust the name of your blog somewhat or keep the defaults

5.      A confirmation email will be sent to you with a link to activate your account.

6.      Click on the link or cut and paste into your browser... Your are done!

You can now log into your blog page (click the login link on the activation page) and let the world know all you ever wanted to say. Your blog address should be something like http://yourusername.wordpress.com. Bookmark it for easy reference later. To login into the administration area later it is the same address but with a /wp-admin at the end.

Once in the administration area click on the link to the left entitled 'new post'. Add a title in the first box at the top and for your first post, some text in the first box below the title. Click the Publish button in the top right area to post your stuff...

As you can see there are lots of nifty tools and gadgets to play with. Most a self explanatory or if needed, a little help from Google can get you rolling along blogging your life away
