FileZilla FTP software for your desktop, also known as an FTP client is a very useful program. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It originated in the early days of the Internet and was used as a way to move computer files back and forth from one computer to another over and network or eventually over the Internet. In order to move files from computer A over to computer B, computer B needs to run FTP server software. It allows FTP client software to connect and transfer files through an established set of protocols. Today FTP is commonly used to move files from desktop computers to Web hosting accounts. Most Windows based operating systems come with an FTP client. It is however command line based. This means you have to open a shell window and type in each command.
