Probably the hottest technology on the Web today is video. It has gained popularity at an exponential rate over the past few years. More searches for video are done than ever before. Some kids are watching more Internet video then TV and that’s got the networks a little worried… So how can you get this latest craze onto your website? It use to be a real pain in the butt. Encoding, streaming, bandwidth were all annoying and it was never really certain whether people could actually view what you put up. Then along came You Tube. You Tube make putting video onto your website or blog easy.

Assuming you already have some sort of video you wish to place on your blog or website the first thing you need to do is get a You Tube account. It’s free and easy. Go to www.youtube.com and click on “sign up” at the top. Follow the directions to create a free account. Login to your account hover your mouse over the “Upload” button at the top right. Choose “Video File”. An “Upload Video” button will be displayed. Click on it to browse your computer for your video file. You Tube supports just about every video format but there are a few odd ones it won’t. If you happen to have a video file in this category you will need to convert it first. Not too worry, just Google “video format converter” and you will see there is a ton of software available to do this.

Once your file is uploaded you can fill in the title, description and tags, etc. if you like. Next click on the link “Embed and Sharing Options”. This will bring you a screen with choices to either link to the video or embed it. Click on the code under the Embed option and it will automatically highlight. Copy this code and paste it into your blog page or web page and your done! Your video is now ready for viewing by the world.

This site has a cool set of tools that allow you to create a custom player for your You Tube videos: http://www.vtubetools.com – you just fill in the blanks and it does everything else so you just need to cut and paste code.
